Have you seen the Lion Dance, Fireworks and Festivities of the Chinese New Year Parade?

On the day of the Chinese New Year Parade, March 1st,  I took my photography students to Chinatown in Boston to photograph the festivities.  The students studied the symbolism involved with the festival and focused their cameras on the symbolic elements such as the oranges, children characters and decorations, red lanterns and red envelopes. They captured exciting action of the Lion Dance Performance, drummers, and fireworks. I taught them how to obtain stop motion photographs and blurred motion photographs to convey the action and excitement of the event.  I wanted to share some shots of the students capturing all the action and a few of the best of photographs by the students!
